RSSまわりの議論がいろいろと出ていて喜ばしい．semblog moduleについては指摘のあった部分を修正し，バージョン0.2としてリリースする予定．みなさまありがとうございます．

さて，ここで少し考えたいというか前からの疑問があるのだが，こういう語彙を定義するためには，リリースするためにはいったいどういう手順を踏むべきなのだろうか．semblog moduleについてはあきらかに勝手に作って勝手に実装している．これでデファクトスタンダードが取れるなら何の問題もなかろうが，残念ながらこのようなやり方では世界的に普及させることは不可能である．一般に，このような語彙とかプロトコルに究極の正答は存在せず，それがよっぽどおかしなものではない限り，一長一短というか提案者の視点の取り方の違いみたいな話になる． 「in the vanguard」さん のところではRSSとalternativeの関係が議論されているが， 「おのひろきおんらいん」さん が言われるように正しいとも思えるし，厳密に解釈して間違っていると考えることもできる．またはbmpさんのコメントにもあるように，シンプルに「rel=rss」を定義して使えばよいとも思える．どれにせよ，規格と現実の運用には何らかのズレがあって，そのズレを修正するために何らかの活動をしていきたいわけだが，その際の活動とは何なのか，どうすれば効果的なのか，というようなことについてぼくはあまりにも無知だ．

現在ぼくはフロリダのリゾート地にてISWC2003というセマンティックウェブの学会に出ている．セマンティックウェブでは，ソフトウェアが理解できる語彙の体系＝オントロジーをどうやって定義するかという話がよく出てくる．語彙自体を統一することはあまり現実的ではないが，せめて語彙の書き方は合わせたいということでRDFをはじめとする記述言語の定義がなされている．当然そこではいろんな議論がなされる．知り合いの研究者によればその議論というのが修羅の世界で，常に発言をし続けることが大事で，しかも議論は複数回にわたるためにアメリカだのヨーロッパだの年8回ぐらい出張して出席し続けないとプレゼンスが失われる，とどちらにせよ日本人にはなかなか厳しい条件が揃っているということである．ちょっと余談っぽくなったが，要するに規格をつくるということは政治をするということで，政治にはそれなりのプロトコルがやっぱりあって，それを使いこなせるのかどうかぼくには全く自信がない（というか経験がない）．まあその意味でJoi ItoさんはCreative Commonsに関わったりFOAFに関わったりとすごいなあと単純に思う．KANZAKIさんもそう．Lawrence Lessigは著書「CODE」の中で現実の力のあり方を「法」「慣習」「市場」「アーキテクチャ」に分類している．規格作りの問題はそれら全てを含んでいる．何をどのように提案して現実の力に変えていくのか，semblog.orgの活動にもそれが問われている（そして大変そうなので先が思いやられる）．
