3週間ほどのご無沙汰でした．その間にいろんなことがあってまだ整理がついていない．Weblog世界の動きの早さを思い知らされる．いちばん大きな出来事はglucoseの配布停止．2つ問題があり，1つは明らかなバグが原因で，あるサイトに数日間で数十万アクセスの負荷をかけてしまった．プログラム的には単純なミスだったのだけれども，それがネットにつながった瞬間に巨大なトラブルを引き起こす．それは常識とはいえ，自分たちがそれをやってしまう可能性があることに気が回っていなかったという面は否定できない．もう1つの問題はより深刻で，Weblogをある面で特徴づけているTrackBackの仕組みの大きな弱点というか何というかを自らの手で露呈させてしまったこと．ここ最近議論がなされていたTrackBackスパムを図らずも実現してしまった．．．これについては，端的に言ってしまうとTrackBackの仕様を守っていないサイトに対して仕様通りの要求を送るとそれが解釈してもらえずに別の処理がなされた，という感じになる．で，ここで問題になるのはTrackBackとは何かということ．それは概念なのか技術なのか仕様なのか． MTのサイト によればその3つの全てだということが読みとれるが，その考え方は全ての人に受け入れられているのか．デファクトスタンダードなる言葉があるけれども，上のような考え方がデファクトになりきっていない（かといって対抗技術もあんまりない）状態で技術や仕様をフルに生かし切ろうとすることは難しいのではないか．今回はたまたまglucoseというユーザベースの小さいソフトウェアの問題だったが，検索エンジンのロボットはどうかとか疑問点はいくらでも出てくる．さらにはそれら全てがTrackBackの概念を理解してそれに配慮したロジックを組み込むことはあり得るのか．robots.txtを万人に周知するほうが早い？こういった話は世の中のありとあらゆるプロトコルの普及過程にあったに違いないが，実際にどのように対処されて，今後はどのように対処するべきなのだろう．幸いにしてTrackBackやRSSやサイト間連携について議論する場ができつつあり，優秀な人々がそこに集まりつつある．そこでの議論を見守りつつ，必要とあらば末席に加えさせていただこうと思う．
