RNAはどこへ行く
ところで「だれでもアンテナ」はすでに「はてなアンテナ」で達成されているのだからいまさら作らなくてもいいのではないかという話もある．これについてははじめに述べたとおり完全な目的ドリブンではなかった（練習）ことと，やっぱり手元でカスタマイズできてなんぼでしょう，中にはサービスとして施しを受けるのをよしとしない人がいるはず，と思ったのがあって勢いで作ってしまった．そしてもちろんRSSというフォーマットを広めたいというのが最大の理由であるのは確か．RSSの中でもそのバージョン1.0（RSSではバージョン間闘争というのか大喧嘩があって，真面目に調べようとすると大変なことになる）はRDFというXMLのサブセットに基づいていて非常に素性がよい．何よりRDFは来るべきSemantic Web時代の基本コンポーネントであって，個人用Semantic Web世界を作りだすべく活動しているsemblog.orgにとってはレーゾンデートルに等しい（適当な言いぐさです）．Weblogツールが生成するRSSをRNAが加工してまたRSSのかたちで吐き出す，その加工のやり方がおもしろくてキャッチーであれば必ずやRSSの普及は早まるだろうと信じている．ちなみにバージョン間闘争については，RSS0.91/2.0の入力は受け付けるが出力は1.0のみ，ということにして少しでも1.0が広まるようにしたいという立場を取っている．なのでRNAを単なるRSSバージョン変換器として使うのも大歓迎です．また，RSSはそれなりに規格化されているが，記述するのが人間である以上ミスや間違いや故意による変なデータというのは常に生成される可能性がある．RNAではその全てには対応できないけれども，よくある間違い（description要素にCDATAをつっこむなど）に対してはよりよいRSSになれるよう変換をかけたりしている．
次に，はてなアンテナとの連携機能について．この機能には異論反論が多いかもしれないし，それは百も承知している．それでも搭載したのはなぜか．RNAとは何かと問われれば（いまのところ）アンテナだと答えるしかない．ならばアンテナとしてチェックできるサイトを増やすことは義務であろう，が，RSSを吐き出さないサイトへの対応をスクラッチからやっていたのでは日が暮れるし，それこそ何を作っているのかがわからなくなる．そこで，あるものは使う，便利なものには敬意を表しつつ寄生，ということで同じ「だれでもアンテナ」を標榜するはてなアンテナを利用させてもらうことにした．semblog.orgからの勝手なお願いとしては普通のサイトだけをはてなに登録し，RSSのあるサイトはRNA側で登録，全部をまとめてRNAでチェックするのが一番いいです．はてなアンテナの更新箇所切り出し機能は優秀だが最近サーバが重い，その辺の長所と短所をひっくるめてRNAとの連携でいいとこ取りをしたいなあと思っている．また切り出された更新箇所をRSSとして再利用できるようにということも念頭に置いている．
そんなわけでRSS世界をリッチにしていきたいRNAであるが，まだまだ目標の「だれでもアンテナ」にはほど遠い．がんばって作っているのでいろんな人が入れてくれればなあと思っています．ホスティングサービスをやってくれる人も大歓迎．お待ちしています．閑話休題．で，なぜそこまで「だれでも」にこだわるかというとそれなりにやっぱり理由がある．Weblogでもそうだが，仮にRNAが普及して誰もが自分のアンテナを持つ，1人1アンテナ時代が到来すると，個々のアンテナの中身は大して変わらなくなるだろうと思う．しかし，その微妙な違いはそのまま持ち主の視点の違いであり編集方針の違いであると考えることもできて，その持ち主同士をうまいこと結びつけることによってWeb上の情報を再組織化できないか，と考えている（急に抽象的になって申し訳ない）．情報のソースたる人と人との結びつけはいろいろなやり方がある．そのうちの1つがはてなアンテナにおける「おとなりアンテナ」であったりする．RNAでは分散していることが利点になるような結びつけかたをあれこれと考えていて，その際にある種の定型フォーマットであるRSSは極めて重要な役割を担う．今後はそういう方向へのアップデートが出る予定．またアンテナの持ち主情報であるとか人と人の関係を記述するために近くfoafフォーマットのデータをマネージできるようにする．RSSとfoafによってもたらされるものは劇的な変化ではないかもしれないが，気がつけば便利になっていたなあ，ぐらいの影響が与えられればうれしい．異常に長い話になってしまったが，RNAが目指すところはこんな感じ．賛同してくれる人がいてくれるといいのだけれど．
